Leadership Concept

 

As you know ethic is depending on an environment or social norm and reasonable consistent philosophical. In term of morality depend on beliefs, religious and cultural value and other principles (Community tool box,n.d).  Moreover, the simple meaning is aware and do what is right and wrong. According to John Rawls, the famous of ethical philosopher of the 20^th century, he said that “ethical makes a distinction between comprehensive moral system, such as religions, which cover not only behaviour but such issues as humanity’s place in the universe, and less comprehensive systems, which cover the political, social and economic spheres. Ethical leadership at least for the purpose of this section, falls into the second category.

Ethical leadership has two elements including deontological and teleological

 

What is Deontological?

 

The definition of Deontological is focus on what people do, not with effect of their performance for example, action the right thing because it’s right thing to do in contrast do not action wrong thing by avoid because they think it’s wrong(BBC, n.d.).

 

According to Kant who is the philosopher give the example to easy understand. It may be the wrong to tell a bias or lie for protect your friend from a criminal (BBC,n.d.)

 

What is teleological?

 

Some people will have called consequentialist. The teleological means depend on appraise what is the consequence of performance will be. The most consequences has positive side more than negative side(Tom K., n.d.). For example, some people who said that it will be good torture for murder who been detained disputed that the consequence would be better because the teleological is principle of thinking to decide which one of performance is the best (Tom K., n.d.).

According to the two elements of ethic leadership, it can apply and related to one concept. It is 4V concept of ethical leadership including values, voice, vision and virtue. Dr. Bill Grace was a person who explored 4V model. The reason why he explored is this model because this model helps to develop moral, human, leadership and community in ethical leadership.

Values and vision determine the group or organization. Those show the group’s object and instruction. So, both of this model is more important measurement of leadership (Center for Ethical leadership,n.d.).

 

In term of voice toward and vision into any group dynamic. This one is sufficient mobile by a group to the recognition of vision make a demand the articulation of vision and value in real and understand. The sufficient leadership make a demand capability to give voice toward value and vision (Centre for Ethical leadership,n.d.).

 

Virtue is combine principle, sensitivity to relationship and commitment to public good. Moreover, Virtue will change to society from leadership to sufficient (Center for Ethical leadership,n.d.).

 

 

For example, of the organization who are good ethical behavior.

 

Body shop is a beauty and small business that success in the market. Body shop has stimulated towards a vision of integrate capitalism with environmental. Body shop has expanded the business to dizzy height, motivate by a vision and a define the value. Body shop has aware about social and human right with animal welfare and environment protection (Bob B.,2014).

 

According to debate about ethical leadership, ethical leadership focus on what is right thing or wrong. So, the most action occurs social, beliefs, religious and cultural value and other principles. In my recommendation, some manager should concern on ethical leadership for good model to employee.
